Burmese

In the intricate world of rat genetics, the “Burmese” coloration is a stunning and rich mid-brown shade that’s a true marvel to behold, free from any hints of dinginess, silvering, or patches. This captivating hue is achieved through a combination of factors: non-agouti, one copy of the Burmese gene, and two copies of any C Locus gene, each contributing to the distinct variations in shades of brown depending on the specific C locus in play. The eyes of these lovely rats can be either striking black or beguiling Ruby. The magic doesn’t stop there; breeding Burmese to Burmese yields the exquisite Sable, while pairing Burmese with the C locus produces the intriguing pointed pattern known as Tonkiness. Our own Burmese line was born through the union of a Tonkiness and one of our Siamese Silvermane Harley carriers, granting us the privilege of introducing not only Burmese but also Silvermane and the captivating sable into our palette of Harley and Marten Burmese colors. However, due to temperament considerations, we’ve regrettably ceased breeding this line, prioritizing the well-being and disposition of our beloved rat companions above all else.
